It seems that if you live long enough, your eyes, sight having deteriorated as you age, reverse course and your sight improves. Monday was the second exam in a row where my prescription strength has been decreased. My sight has improved. This is Second Sight.
My eye doctor, whom I've seen for years, used some terminology Monday that I did not understand when dictating to a lady helping him. I said, "Doc, are you going to explain those terms, or are you going to make me go home and look them up? You have never used those terms before with me." He explained.
Some folks, when receiving Second Sight, have no problems. For others, Second Sight comes with cataracts. Doc said, "You are in the beginning stage of developing cataracts." I asked, "How long will the progression take?" He replied, "You won't need surgery for years, but when you have it, you will see very well. It will be amazing." The lady helping him said, "73." "Excuse me?" She went on to say that, "The average age of a person having cataract surgery is 73. You have eleven years." I said, "Well, I won't worry about it then!"
Doc gave me a pair of contacts less powerful than the ones I wore to the exam. I could see very well. I hadn't even realized that my sight had been blurred a bit by contacts that were too powerful. Too powerful is as bad as not powerful enough. Another lesson learned!
