Protector

Been meaning to share something that happened last week. Have you ever had a close call in your vehicle, thought about what just happened, and then concluded God must have been protecting you? Or maybe you were using some tool and an accident occurred but you were unharmed? I think sometimes God works overtime protecting us from ourselves. The day before we left to go see mom last week, I was trying to get things caught up before leaving- mowing, weed eating, pool maintenance, etc. Well, the gutters on the house needed to be cleaned and the mounting screws tightened up. I was up on the ladder which was sitting on the concrete platform (which is the final step) by our back door. When I finished that section I was stepping down off the ladder onto the platform and instead stepped on the edge of the platform rolling my ankle and slamming down on the next step on that rolled ankle with the full weight of my body on it. I started walking carefully to survey the damage but there wasn't any...and no pain. I looked the situation over from an EMS/Nursing standpoint and concluded that I should have broken my ankle. (I have hurt that same ankle before playing basketball in almost the very same fashion.) At the very least, it should have painfully swelled up from hyperextending tissue and straining connections. Paula was also working outside and I took her over to show her what had just happened. I said, "There is no way that I should not be hurt." And then I said, "I guess God knew I didn't have time to be hurt. Walt is already on crutches and probably needs surgery, every nurse is needed at work, and Mom needs to see us. He knew I didn't have time to be hurt." It is easy for me to take for granted what God does for me everyday, but I paused to be thankful for His intervention that day, and am still marveling about it. Had the circumstances been different He might have allowed my ankle to snap, but not this time. Thankful for His protection! July, 2017

Don't give in!

Satan wants you to accept sin as normal. Therefore, he will get people to insert certain sins into things you like most. I love baseball....

They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To

That's true of a lot of things, isn't it? I thought of that again this morning when I cleaned up after breakfast. I wanted comfy clothes...
