Motivation

silaslowe763

I was all settled into my recliner, heat pad on, tv remote in hand, just ate a bunch of chips and a piece of my leftover Dairy Queen ice cream birthday cake, and I was all set for pizza for supper. Immediately proceeding the junk food was a three mile walk with the wife. Before church I had done my exercises and lifted some weights, so it hadn't been a totally unhealthy day.

Wife gets a text. Daughter wants to know if we want to meet them for Mexican. I asked, "When?" Forty-five minutes at Jose Jalapeno's, which is twenty minutes away or more depending on traffic. I said, "Well, I wish I hadn't just eaten this junk. I have to hurry and shower." So I dropped and ran to the bathroom.

Keep in mind, my wife and daughters sometimes call me a "curmudgeon." This is not a term I am fond of. But I get it. Sometimes, I'm tired and in pain and just want to stay home. However, I have hardly ever, if ever, turned down an opportunity to do something fun with my grandson. He loves Jose's. He chose that place for his third birthday dinner a few years ago. I don't know how long I'll get to enjoy him and his sister, so move I did.

I had fun with the grandkids, found room for some good food, and added another memory to my internal "blessed to be a grandpop" notebook. When we got back home, I pulled the lever on the recliner, turned the heat pad on, grabbed the remote, and reminisced about another good day!
