From the Killary Fjord we continued our guided tour with the Tuttles to Kylemore Abbey, nestled in the Connemara Mountains. Here we toured part of the Abbey, the Old Gothic Church, the Chapel, and the gardens which covered 7-8 acres.
I love history. Reading about something in the Abbey. Notice the nuns at top left.
You can't see it very well, but the white thing in the center is a statue of Jesus in the hills above the Abbey.
Celtic Cross on the Abbey grounds.
In the Abbey gardens.
Our tour guides!
A man built Kylemore for his wife, but she died while traveling abroad. Later, nuns came to live here, and they make delicious chocolate to this day! I had some! Check out the history of this place, very interesting.
