Ireland Tidbits

Prices of items in Ireland are all inclusive. If an item is priced at 10 Euro, it is 10 Euro total, all taxes and/or fees are included in the advertised price. The same is true for B&B's and hotels. This is nice! The U.S. should do this!

Healthy food in Ireland is cheaper than junk food. Many Irish natives don't eat much, if any, junk food. They have taxes added to unhealthy, processed, sugary foods. You don't see many overweight folks there, except for tourists. The U.S. should follow suit.

Tipping. Irish people will tell you they are paid to work, and they enjoy what they do. Tips are not expected. It you do tip anything, 10% is the absolute maximum, and that only for the most excellent service. American workers should take notice. Right before going to Ireland, I was presented a bill for eating out with 25% as a tipping option! Ridiculous!

Toilets. Irish people don't use the restroom, bathroom, water closet, etc.. They use the toilet. If you are eating in a pub you may use their facilities for free. A public toilet, or toilets in the mall for instance, will cost you 50 cents Euro, or 54 cents in dollars. If you don't have a 50 cent coin, and the toilets are not making change, never fear, they will take your credit card. Most men's toilets don't have trash cans. They use air hand dryers.
