Ireland, Day 8 - Evening, Lanigans, Kilkenny

We wanted to hear some live music. Locals recommended 'Matt the Millers' which we walked to, but were told no live music tonight. We had passed this place on the way to 'MtheMs' and heard music, so we returned. Had the best time! However, to keep our front and center table for the evening, we had to order some food. Well, we were still full from Feehan's, but we ordered pizza, wings, and onion rings to much on, which was sufficient table rent.

We sat beside a family from New Orleans. Mom was originally from Indiana and dad was originally from Ireland. They were in Ireland for an Irish dance competition which their daughter in the video above participated in. As the second band played, dad mentioned to them the son was learning to play guitar and they invited him on stage. They just handed him a guitar and he played an Irish tune. Next was the song in the video above. How many American artists would just hand a stranger their guitar and invite them up? This was the kind of welcoming environment we experienced all over the island.

We retired to Fanad. All four of us stayed in one room. We knew months in advance this would be the case. We also figured that by this point in the trip we would already be ready to kill each other, or it would be fine. It was fine. Phil didn't even snore! Where are my pictures? I swore I took some!
