Early Bird...

I had an appointment at the Pain Clinic in the MOI building this morning. My scheduled time was 08:30. I arrived a few minutes early, was taken right in, and door to door was fifteen minutes total. I would like to think I am an easy patient, but I'm probably not. Anyway, I was done before my appointment time! It doesn't always work this way with every doctor I see, but it happens quite often. Now to await the nurse calling me back to schedule my injection. I have to decide whether I would like to have it sooner without anesthesia, or later with. I've had this done four times, once at the pain clinic. I chose to get it done sooner without anesthesia the first time here at the clinic, but it was all I could do not to scream. I had gone to nursing school with one of the doctor's nurses in the procedure room, so I just had to grit my teeth, I couldn't be a pansy in front of her! The doctor just kept telling me, "You're doing fine." He could tell when I tensed up, obviously, and I tried not to as I didn't want to mess him up. I'm thinking I'll opt for anesthesia this time. The other three times were done at Boone Hospital with an EUS and anesthesia laying on my back so they could run the scope down my esophagus, so the injection was delivered from inside. At the pain clinic I lay on my stomach and the medication is delivered through my back. The position I had to maintain on my stomach was almost as painful as the procedure, so I'm thinking some relax juice may help a lot!

Update- Already got a call back. Injection in two weeks with anesthesia. Woo Hoo!
