Absalom, oh Absalom!

Sitting on a bench outside Texas Roadhouse with a friend, waiting on our wives and our turn to go in and eat was quite entertaining. My friend was skyping with his grandson on his phone and the grandson was putting on a beard. As a 30-something blonde walks by he says to his grandson, "Hey, nice looking beard!" The woman spins around and says, "Excuse me! Are you talking to me?" I quickly said, "No, he's talking to his grandson on the phone." She walked off shaking her head. I was laughing pretty good.

Some dressed up kids went by, obviously celebrating something, and I laughed to myself about being underdressed. The place was hopping. I guess there were homecomings going on, as well as people going out for Valentine's Day. I got a hug from a couple from Shelbina who have lived in Macon for several years. My buddy didn't get any hugs but he got some "Howdy's" from people he knew.

A couple walked out of the joint headed to a parking area to the west, the woman stepped down into the parking lot while the man continued down the sidewalk. He wasn't paying attention and had his hat removed by some low-hanging branches which also messed up his hair and snagged his clothing. His look of surprise was priceless, but he managed to quickly free himself. We were dying laughing, but my friend said, "That really is a liability. Somebody could get hurt and sue the place." I said, "I'm just glad he got loose, I didn't want to spear him like Absalom!" (see 2 Samuel 18)
